About The Event

Vernal pools are small wetlands that provide essential habitats for insects, crustaceans, frogs, salamanders, turtles, and other wildlife species. Before the outdoor nature study, an indoor presentation on the natural history of vernal pools will be conducted. We will then explore these unique wetlands hands-on, looking for salamanders, frogs, insects, and other wildlife contributing to this small and valuable ecosystem. Please dress for the weather and wear boots to wade into the wetland.
