Volunteer Opportunity: Front Desk and Visitor Services at Sterling Nature Center

We’re looking for friendly, nature-loving volunteers to join our team at Sterling Nature Center’s Interpretive Center. Help visitors feel welcome, share your knowledge, and support daily operations.

What You’ll Do
As a Front Desk and Visitor Services volunteer, you’ll be the first person visitors meet. Your role includes

  • Greeting visitors and making them feel welcome.

  • Answering questions about the center, exhibits, and trails.

  • Helping in the visitor shop (basic math skills needed).

  • Sharing your enthusiasm for nature and our mission.

Volunteer Shifts
The Interpretive Center is open Wednesday through Sunday. Volunteer shifts are:

Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

  • 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

What We’re Looking For

  • A welcoming and friendly attitude.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Basic math ability.

  • Dependability.

  • A passion for nature and conservation.

The Friends of the Sterling Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the development and preservation of Sterling Nature Center
